FPL, United HomeCare Deliver Hurricane Meal Kits to Miami-Dade Seniors

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) partnered with United HomeCare to help homebound seniors in Miami-Dade County prepare with “hurricane meal kits.” The kits have a three-day supply of shelf-stable foods, because some seniors might not have access to food and water after a storm. Officials say these kits will help provide necessary meals until it’s safe to resume deliveries.
“At FPL, we prepare for hurricane season year-round and we encourage our customers to do the same. That’s why we partnered with United HomeCare to bring these hurricane kits to seniors so that they can also be prepared,” says Mariela Quintanilla from FPL.
FPL provided nearly 2,500 of these kits to more than 800 local seniors. The company says it’s crucial for everyone to be ready for storms. For tips on how you can prepare, visit FPL.com/storm.
