Make a Splash for Safety: Join Miami-Dade’s 15th Annual Summer Safety Splash Event!

Summer is around the corner, and what better way to kick it off than with a fun, family-friendly event that could also save lives?
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 31st, and head over to Oak Grove Park in Miami for the 15th Annual Summer Safety Splash, hosted by Miami-Dade Parks in partnership with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The event starts at 10:30 a.m., and it’s completely free and open to the public!
This year’s celebration of National Water Safety Month promises a full day of excitement, learning, and hands-on activities designed to teach kids—and their parents—the importance of water safety. With interactive water games, live rescue demonstrations, and plenty of take-home resources, it’s the perfect blend of fun and education.
Whether your child is just learning to swim or already loves the water, this event is a great way to reinforce life-saving lessons. Experts from Miami-Dade Parks will be on-site sharing details about their year-round Learn2Swim program, which offers affordable swimming lessons for kids ages two and up. These lessons help little ones build confidence in the pool, teach vital skills like breath control and stroke techniques, and give parents peace of mind.
But water safety isn’t the only focus. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital will also be covering a wide range of summer safety topics, from proper car seat use and heatstroke prevention to bicycle and home safety. Malvina Duncan, injury prevention coordinator and SAFE KIDS Miami-Dade leader, will be there to share practical tips every parent should know.
So, grab your swimsuits, sunscreen, and sense of adventure—it’s time to dive into safety and summer fun!
