Miami-Dade County kicks off sea turtle nesting season with Turtlepalooza

Sea turtle nesting season is officially underway in Miami-Dade County. From March through October, this annual event marks the start of Florida’s largest gathering of nesting turtles, with Miami-Dade’s beaches playing a crucial role in the conservation of this endangered species. On Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces department will host the annual Turtlepalooza event at the Crandon Park Visitor’s & Biscayne Nature Center, 6767 Crandon Blvd, Miami, FL 33149
Turtlepalooza showcases Miami-Dade Parks’ sea turtle conservation efforts, starting with a beach cleanup at 9 a.m. and the EcoVillage at 10 a.m., featuring conservation booths. Activities include guided nature hikes, stake painting, an All About Sea Turtle presentation and a live animal ambassador presentation provided by Bill Sadowski Park staff. Attendees can also enter the adopt-a-nest giveaway raffle.
Residents are invited to be part of the sea turtle season, by adopting a nest, experiencing a sea turtle night release, or observing a daytime nest excavation this summer. For more information, visit the web page.
