For the fifth year in a row, the Homestead Public Information Office (PIO) received national attention for excellence in marketing and communications.  The PIO came back with eight awards from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association’s (3CMA) prestigious Savvy Awards Competition, grabbing top honors in two video categories and a host of other recognition for events, community visioning, and marketing around community issues.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) continues to coordinate the efforts of dozens of federal agencies supporting response following Hurricane Irma’s damage to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Florida.  Today, more than 38,000 federal personnel are working to support state, Commonwealth, territorial, tribal and local officials; additional staff continue to deploy.
