New Fix It! Homestead App Launched to Serve Residents for All Non-Emergency Needs
In such an unpredictable world, you need to know your community has your back, and the City of Homestead is here to help.
Residents, business owners, and other members of the community will be pleased to find out that The City of Homestead has launched a new app, called Fix It! Homestead—which will be the fastest, easiest way for residents to submit non-emergency requests, stay updated, and initiate positive change in our community. Thanks to a joint team effort of many city officials and staff members, this new app will function as a request management system and communication tool that bridges the gap between constituents and government officials to increase citizen engagement and improve citizen services.
As more and more members of the community take advantage of this app and provide feedback, the city will continue to develop and improve new features to keep up with the needs of the community.
How does it work?
With the Fix It! Homestead app, residents can photograph potholes or other problems, geo-locate them, and hit submit on their device to automatically send that concern directly to the right representative at City Hall. Things like street potholes, light pole outages, code violations, storm drainage problems, and other non-emergency concerns can all be reported right on the app.
Users can track the status of their submissions directly on the app and receive updates as they occur. While this is not intended to be a two-way chat system, residents will receive the necessary updates in a timely fashion.
City officials will be monitoring the app during normal business hours—Monday thru Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, so residents can expect their requests to be acknowledged within 24 hours. The timeline for resolution will depend on the nature of the request, like if any materials or parts need to be ordered to complete the job.
What kind of requests should NOT be reported on the app?
The Fit It! Homestead app is not intended to report emergency issues like medical problems or crimes in progress. Instead, these situations should be reported directly to 911.
Similarly, water or sewer line breaks and power outages should be reported through the city’s emergency dispatch. For convenience, there are emergency links provided in the application so users can still access the most appropriate support as quickly as possible.
Where to find it?
There’s strength in numbers, and the more people that report these issues, the faster they’ll be addressed! So, even if you aren’t the type of person to call the town about a pothole, this app will do the legwork for you. All you need to do is sit back and watch your community thrive. Download the Fix It! Homestead app today on the Apple app store or Google Play store. It can also be accessed online at www.cityofhomestead.com/FixIt
