What did George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Adams have in common? Those famous people from the history of our country not only participated actively in politics, but they also dedicated their time to work as volunteer firefighters.

HPS Energy and their restoration assistance partners have restored power to 82% of customers since Hurricane Irma hit.  The worst-case scenario for power restoration to the last of HPS Energy customers is Sunday, but the bulk of customers will get electricity back sooner.  FPL says it expects to have 100% restoration in Homestead by Sunday.  In Miami-Dade County, more than 250,000 people are still without power.

Attention Small Business Owners: The Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program has been activated by the Governor of Florida as a result of Hurricane Irma

Governor Rick Scott activated the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program to support small businesses impacted by Hurricane Irma. The bridge loan program, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), will provide short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses that experienced physical or economic damage during the storm. The application period is from today through Oct. 31, 2017.
