Skip the Long Drive: Spirit Airlines Launches Direct Flights to Key West from Fort Lauderdale
Key West just got a whole lot closer.
For travelers in South Florida, the iconic — and often exhausting — drive down U.S. 1 to the southernmost point of the continental U.S. is no longer your only option. Starting November 6, Spirit Airlines will offer a direct flight from Fort Lauderdale to Key West, making your tropical escape quicker and easier than ever.
Until now, getting to Key West meant hours on the road, navigating narrow bridges and scenic (but slow) highways. This new route means you can be in paradise in just 50 minutes.
“Spirit Airlines entering the Key West market this November is fantastic news for our passengers,” said Richard Strickland, executive director of airports at Key West International Airport. “We welcome this addition to our selection of carriers and greatly anticipate access to Spirit’s expansive network of destinations.”
