Support Le Jardin Community Center and Secure the Future of Many on Give Miami Day

Give Miami Day is an annual celebration of generosity in Greater Miami that raises awareness for critical Miami non-profit organizations as one of the nation’s largest 24-hour giving events. This year, Le Jardin is excited to participate in the movement on November 17th.
What is Le Jardin?
Working with over fifteen community partners, Le Jardin aims to identify the most vulnerable families in need of services. Their program is responsible for promoting the school readiness of children from birth to age five from low-income families. Engaging with these children in the classroom in unique and specialized ways enhances their cognitive, social, and emotional development, preparing them for a brighter future.
We got to speak with Audelia Martinez CFO/COO of Le Jardin about their organization and she explains, “Le Jardin aspires to improve the quality of life for our children and families, as well as the quality of our School Centers and ongoing engagement with our community. We provide high-quality educational, recreational, and cultural activities as well as comprehensive services in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. Quality early education is vital to the future of our community.”
By adhering to the structure of The Head Start Program, Le Jardin has made great strides in the community and continues to do everything possible to support child education and development.
What is the Head Start program?
In the early 60s, Lyndon B. Johnson started The Head Start Program to help fight the war on poverty. Funding is used to help families move out of poverty by providing accessible quality education for the children and giving their families a greater sense of empowerment and independence.
Education is the key that opens doors no matter where you’re from or what your background is. You can take away a person’s income, but you can never take away their knowledge, and that is how you build a sustainable, successful future.
To build long-lasting bonds and immeasurable positive impact, Head Start emphasizes the role of parents as their child’s first and most important teacher. Building relationships with families is imperative to helping them overcome socioeconomic challenges and supporting their overall well-being.
When children are ready for school, families are ready to support their children’s learning, and schools are ready to help the children learn and grow. Fostering an environment that considers each aspect of a child’s development is imperative to create lasting positive change.
Get involved with Give Miami Day
There are several ways to get involved depending on your experience. In speaking about how people can even donate their time and education, Audelia explains: “Professionals willing to donate their time and provide training or volunteer in the classroom and events are more than welcome. We appreciate those who take the time to volunteer to read to the children in the classroom or participate in hands-on activities.” So even if you aren’t able to make a donation, you can still offer your time and a positive impact on someone’s life.
This year, Le Jardin has the goal of raising $100,000 to fund healthcare services in the upcoming “Mobile Health Bus.” This is Le Jardin’s latest endeavor in the attempt to build a bridge between accessible healthcare and families in need.
Some of the services they aim to offer on this bus include:
– Ambulatory patient services
– Laboratory services
– Prenatal tests & well-baby exams
– Vaccines & immunizations
– Annual check-ups
– Hemoglobin, TB skin test, and lead screening
– Vision & hearing screening
Anyone wishing to support Le Jardin can log on to GiveMiamiDay.org/lejardinccinc on November 17th and pledge their support. No matter how large or small contributions are, they will make all the difference in helping Le Jardin provide necessary services on the Mobile bus.
