“Bake A Difference” Community Wide Bake Sale Raises $25,000 for Miami Children’s Health Foundation
MIAMI (November, 2016) – On Saturday, Nov. 19, the President’s Cabinet of Miami Children’s Health Foundation teamed up with the Knots of Hope guild to host the third annual “Bake a Difference” event, where more than 200 participants set up 30 bake stands throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties with the purpose of raising funds and awareness for Miami Children’s Health Foundation. This year, the community bake sale raised more than $25,000. These funds will benefit the patients and families who depend on Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and its Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. The “Bake a Difference” event strives to encourage children to get involved and make an impact in the lives of other children. This year, more than 30 individual bake stands were set up by participants who took part in the initiative.
“We are proud to have brought together the community once again to help support the Nicklaus Children’s Brain Institute’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, an international leader in the diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of pediatric epilepsy,” said Amy Hirschhorn, a major supporter of the Bake a Difference initiative. “Bake a Difference is an example of how our children can be shown at an early age that giving and donating your time can be fun and incredibly rewarding.”
The Miami Children’s President’s Cabinet, comprised of established business and community leaders, brings awareness and education to the community on the importance of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in the local, regional, national and international healthcare arena. The cabinet receives education on the inner workings of Miami Children’s Health System while working to raise awareness and funds for the organization throughout South Florida.
Knots of Hope (KOH) is a community service guild comprised of students dedicated to raising vital funds to make a difference in the lives of children being treated at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The organization focuses on spreading awareness on organ and tissue donation, including those undergoing bone marrow transplants.
