City of Homestead Celebrates Florida City Government Week
The City of Homestead is joining cities across the state in celebrating Florida City Government Week from October 23-29, 2017. Because city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides, and the importance of their active involvement. This year’s theme, My City: I’m Part of It, I’m Proud of It, is a reflection of the important relationship between citizens and city government.
Governor Rick Scott recently recognized Florida City Government Week and its sponsor, the Florida League of Cities, with a proclamation about the importance of civic engagement. Florida City Government Week is a time to showcase cities and recognize the significant role played by city government in the lives of its citizens. The League is the official organization of the municipal governments in Florida, designed and established to meet and serve the needs of Florida’s cities and their citizens.
