City of Homestead CRA Invests in Washington Avenue
You may have seen workers steam-cleaning the sidewalk of Washington Avenue in the downtown Homestead Historic District.
This is the beginning phase of a façade program underwritten by the City of Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) that will include the repairing and painting of the facades of all the buildings on Washington Avenue, between NW 2nd Street and NW 4th Street.
Property owners have been meeting with the CRA to coordinate the work and subsequently have been notifying their tenants and business owners of the progress of the project.
The first building to receive new paint is the Pioneer Mall at 220-224 Washington. It is hoped to have all buildings between NW 2nd Street and NW 4th Street completed by Winter, 2017.
New landscaping was installed just this past year on Washington Avenue and this façade project will do much to enhance the appearance of this important commercial center of the downtown.
