City of Homestead Urges Residents to be Cautious in the Aftermath of Hurricane Irma

Although Hurricane Irma has passed and there is no longer danger associated with severe weather there are still significant safety risks to residents.

The City of Homestead urges everyone to stay away from downed power lines and use caution in general when traveling the roadways and during cleanup efforts.  City of Homestead crews are currently out clearing roadways and restoring power.  There will be no estimated timeline for full recovery until a full damage assessment can be done.

Restoration crews are first concentrating on clearing access to major roadways and restoring power to emergency services such as hospitals, police, and fire.  Residents living in gated communities are reminded that their roads, drainage, and landscaping are privately maintained.  As such, the City has no jurisdiction for repairs and residents should contact their Homeowners’ Association for debris removal and repairs.
