Debbie Mucarsel-Powell Releases Statement on Curbelo’s Record on DACA
Miami, FL – Debbie Mucarsel-Powell issued the following statement on the 5th anniversary of the implementation of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), the landmark executive order signed by President Obama in 2012 that has transformed the lives of more than 800,000 law-abiding DREAMers.
“Today marks the 5th anniversary of the implementation of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), the landmark executive order signed by President Obama in 2012 that has transformed the lives of more than 800,000 law-abiding DREAMers. DACA has allowed these hardworking young people to come out of the shadows, live without the fear of deportation, and obtain temporary work permits. My opponent says he supports DACA, but his Leadership PAC has donated to 47 Republicans since 2015 and half of them have voted against DACA. He says one thing at home and does another in Washington – Florida families, and immigrant children, deserve better. In Congress, I will stand up to Republican obstruction and fight for comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship.”
