Step Into the Golden Age: Deering Estate’s Historic Holidays Celebrate “The Golden Age of Travel”
This holiday season, the Deering Estate invites visitors to journey back in time to an era of elegance, adventure, and discovery. From November 28, 2025, through January 6, 2026, guests can experience Historic Holidays: “The Golden Age of Travel”, a festive celebration inspired by the opulence and romance of early 20th-century exploration.
The historic Richmond Cottage and surrounding outdoor areas will be transformed into a dazzling showcase of vintage-inspired décor that captures the excitement of global travel during the time of Charles Deering — the estate’s founder, industrialist, and art patron. Each room will highlight destinations Deering visited in the early 1900s, including France, Spain, Italy, and Japan, along with nods to the luxurious modes of transportation that defined the age — from elegant trains and classic automobiles to majestic ocean liners.
“The Golden Age of Travel” theme pays homage to how the industrial revolution reshaped the way people explored the world. Charles Deering’s voyages across Europe and beyond reflected his deep appreciation for art, culture, and innovation — all of which are echoed in this year’s holiday décor. Visitors will discover nautical touches that recall Deering’s naval years, vintage maps, and artifacts that evoke the grandeur of travel in a bygone era.
Under the creative direction of the Deering Estate Museum Team, and in collaboration with the Deering Estate Foundation, 100 Ladies of Deering, and dedicated community volunteers, the exhibit brings to life the spirit of adventure that once defined Deering’s journeys. Each corner of the estate celebrates the timeless allure of discovery, beautifully intertwining history, art, and holiday joy.
The Historic Holiday Décor will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with gates closing at 4 p.m.). Please note that the Deering Estate will be closed on Christmas Day.
Admission to the exhibit is included with General Admission:
– $18 for adults (ages 15+)
– $10 for children (ages 4–14)
– Free for Deering Estate Foundation Members and children under 4 years old.
