Florida Power and Light Company Employees participate in Thanksgivings event for Homeless Shelter in Homestead

To celebrate Thanksgivings and bring a little holiday cheer, employees of the Florida Power and Light Company visited the Chapman Partnership Homeless Shelter in Homestead. This organization is dedicated to fighting against the lack of housing, a problem that affects many residents of Florida.
“We are proud to give a hand to organizations like the Chapman Homeless Shelter, that helps people without a home find a safe place to live,” said Bianca Cruz, spokesperson for the company.

Employees of FPL helped to decorate the shelter, distributed serve food and distribute items like underwear, baby formula and even diapers that they themselves donated to bring joy to the lives of many people at the shelter. Their objective was to show their support to a community in need.

“At FPL, we are working with the communities that we serve to make Florida an even better place to work and raise a family,” Bianca Cruz said.

According to Cruz, sadly, being homeless is a real problem in the community.
“At Chapman Partnership, we are so grateful for the support we have received from FPL”, said Sharon P. Gold, Community Outreach Coordinator.

“During the week of Thanksgivings, more than 15 of our volunteer employees from Turkey Point plant helped cook and serve the lunch for more that 100 people, also they clean the facilities and put a Christmas tree at the Chapman Homeless Shelter ” Bianca Cruz said.

The day of giving is one of the many ways in which employees of the company show their support to the community where they work.

FPL is the third biggest electric company in the United States, providing service to almost 5 million clients or approximately 10 million people in almost half of the state of Florida.
