Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency Launches the Rock the Block Initiative

The Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is excited to announce the launch of its newest initiative, “Rock the Block,” aimed at revitalizing the SW neighborhood and eliminating slum and blighted conditions in residential areas. The inaugural event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 8 am to 3 pm, on SW 6st from between 6 Ave and 10 Ave. The day promises a day filled with community spirit and positive transformation.

Rock the Block will be a fun-filled one-day event, encouraging community members to come together and contribute their efforts to create a better and more beautiful neighborhood. The event will commence with a groundbreaking ceremony for the new homes that the CRA is constructing in vacant parcels within the SW neighborhood. Following the ceremony, enthusiastic volunteers will engage in various projects to beautify the community.

When the community unites, great things happen. ‘Rock the Block’ is an opportunity for residents to work hand in hand with the Homestead CRA to clean up and uplift the SW neighborhood. The initiative is not just about cleaning up the neighborhood, but about fostering a sense of unity and pride within the community

Volunteers will participate in landscaping, trash pick-up, and mailbox installation, all aimed at enhancing the neighborhood’s appearance and quality of life. Additionally, kids’ activities, including flower box decorating and refreshments, will add a touch of excitement and family-fun to the event.

To become involved in “Rock the Block,” community members are encouraged to RSVP to volunteer at . For those who are not able to volunteer, there are various ways to participate, including contributing materials or tools, becoming a sponsor or donor, or supporting the event in any way possible. Every contribution, big or small, will make a significant impact on the neighborhood’s rejuvenation and the community’s future.
