Homestead Outreach Team: Empowering Students to Serve their Community
This dynamic group of students is taking action and making a real difference in their community.
Get ready to be inspired by the Homestead Outreach Team (H.O.T.). As a 501C3 non-profit organization, their mission is simple yet powerful: to teach students with a heart to serve how to get involved and volunteer in their community. H.O.T. has been tirelessly working to create positive change in Homestead since 2016, and their efforts are paying off.
The 12 incredible students who make up the core of the organization lead the way in serving their community. They are on a mission to make a difference in the lives of children in need, the military and their families, the homeless, and animals in need, and anyone else who needs their help. Their guiding principles? To treat everyone with respect, love, kindness, and gratitude – the same way they would want to be treated. These young leaders pour their hearts and souls into every project they work on, leaving a lasting impact on everyone they touch.
One of H.O.T.’s most impactful projects is the Weekend Food Backpack Program, which addresses food insecurity among children. The organization works with local businesses and organizations to receive non-perishable food donations and packs and distributes bags of food to children who would otherwise go hungry over the weekend.
Despite facing challenges such as funding for their projects, H.O.T. has made a difference in the community thanks to their partnerships and community involvement. They have served over 1 million meals to children in need, and their impact can be seen by the decrease in the volume of food distributed.
H.O.T.’s long-term goal is to continue to teach their team members to lead in their community, succeed in their chosen careers, and give back to those in need. They pray for continued support and for students with a heart to serve to join them. Members of the community can get involved and support H.O.T.’s mission by donating money or gift cards to grocery stores, talking to their church about adopting a school, or getting to know the principals and staff at schools closest to them.
H.O.T. is a shining example of how students can make a difference in their community and serve as an inspiration for others to get involved and make a positive impact. You can follow H.O.T. on Instagram and Facebook for more updates on the good work they’re doing. Let’s support them to make Homestead an even better community to live in!
