HPS Energy Continues Power Restoration After Hurricane Irma
Thanks to the efforts of HPS Energy and their restoration assistance partners, 14,745 homes and businesses (60%) have been restored to power since Hurricane Irma hit. Crews are continuing restoration with help from 18 additional out-of-state crews that arrived last night.
The worst-case scenario for power restoration to the last of HPS Energy customers is Sunday, but the bulk of customers will get electricity back sooner. HPS Energy expects to make significant progress today on the remaining main circuits that have been damaged. FPL says it expects to have 100% restoration in
Homestead by Sunday. Nearly four and a half million people throughout the state of Florida are still without power due to Hurricane Irma.
HPS Energy crews prioritize main circuits before moving on to branch circuits and individual homes. This approach allows HPS Energy to restore power to the most customers as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that some homes may take longer to restore due to excess damage. Just because your neighbors have power doesn’t mean you’re forgotten – your home or your branch circuit may have been affected by a severe weather pocket.
