La Playa Grill Seafood Bar at Homestead Bayfront Park & Marina to host Military Appreciation Day Nov. 3
As we approach Veterans Day, don’t miss the opportunity to show our veterans and current military members how much they are appreciated. On Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, join family and friends for “Military Appreciation Day” at La Playa Grill Seafood Bar at Homestead Bayfront Park & Marina, 9698 N. Canal Dr. (SW 328 St.) in Homestead. The event features internationally-acclaimed Latin and contemporary jazz musician Johnny Holliday who as an active military member adds a unique dimension to his exhilarating repertoire of popular songs and original arrangements. The show starts at 7 p.m. U.S. Military members with ID will receive 10% off their dinner check. Park entrance is always free to military personnel.
Holliday’s two CD’s “Shine In Me” and “In The Light,” recently featured on NBC, CBS and FOX news programs, raised funds benefiting Fisher House for Soldiers Injured in Combat and the AF Security Forces Foundation. Read about Holliday and his music here.
The newly remodeled La Playa reopened in June 2018 after Hurricane Irma as a brand new seafood-focused restaurant and sports bar. The Grill offers a casual, family-friendly waterside dining experience with indoor and outdoor seating. The new menu features everything from conch fritters and lobster to fish and shrimp plus “landlubber” favorites like nachos, chicken wings and hamburgers. Drink selections include the “coldest beer in town,” wine and assorted non-alcoholic beverages. Also featured are the chef’s daily lunch and dessert specials and a “Hook and Cook” option, so guests can bring in their own fresh-caught fish to be prepared by the chef. Restaurant hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The park is also home to Herbert Hoover Marina, a full-service marina nestled in the crystal clear waters of south Biscayne Bay next to the beautiful coral reefs of Biscayne National Park and the Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary.
