Pinecrest Gardens: Exploring an Exotic Garden
To the lovers of nature, on this occasion, we recommend a place that holds approximately a thousand rare varieties of tropical plants, hard wood palm trees that are natives of the tropics, and cypresses.
Pinecrest Gardens is a 20-acre park located at 11000 Red Road in Pinecrest in South Miami and open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park includes varied places that invite you to discover hidden treasures such as:
Botanical Gardens which offer beautiful and rare plants from different parts of the world and that serve as a perfect school for young botanists.
Swan Lake a perfect place to admire the wildlife such as the swans, the iguanas, the turtles on the grass under the sun and native birds that stop to cool off at the edge of the pond.
Petting Zoo that gives the opportunity for children to interact with animals of the farm. It opens daily for 30 minutes at the following times: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Splash ‘N Play a place where children from two to twelve years old can enjoy splashing and cooling off. It opens every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Movie Nights and Flashlight Tours takes place every Friday beginning at 6 p.m. The adventure begins with a night tour of the park and ends with a film in the amphitheater. Admission to this activity is $5. Do not forget to bring a flashlight.
Farmers Market operates Sundays from 9:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. every week. You will find the season’s best bounty of fruits, vegetables, honey, flowers, meats, cheeses, and specialty products throughout the year. For more information call (305) 669-6990.
