Santa’s Helpers Will Come Running This Year!

Homestead Main Street and the YMCA of Homestead are joining forces this December to bring you two events in one evening.

December 2nd is Main Street’s Holiday in Losner Park along with the YMCA’s Jingle Bell Run. Downtown, the evening will begin at 5 p.m. with the holiday program on Losner Stage, while at the YMCA, those planning on running in the Jingle Bell Run are getting ready to “Get Set and Go” with the racers heading for downtown and the holiday celebration at 5:30pm.

Following the program on Losner stage, at 6:30pm the mayor and town council will greet the community and light our fabulous Christmas tree. Then the big moment, Santa and Mrs. Claus leading the Christmas parade with elves and dancing horses accompanying them down Krome Avenue.

At 7:00 the Awards ceremony for the Jingle Bell Run participants will take place on Losner stage. Following this, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in their special chairs in front of the Historic Town Hall Museum to greet each child. Finally, at 7:15 the animated holiday movies will begin on the special large screen set up in Losner Park; limited seating will be available, so bring a blanket or lawn chairs along with the whole family to enjoy this annual holiday event.

Those wishing to participate in the run are asked to arrive at the YMCA at 1034 NE 8th Street no later than 5:30 p.m. Runners are invited to learn more about the Jingle Bell Run and to sign up at www.ymcasouthflorida.org; trolleys will be available throughout the evening to shuttle runners back to their cars at the YMCA from downtown.
