Save Your Home and Finances: If in Foreclosure, Explore Responsible Options

Many homeowners in the state of Florida and across the country have defaulted on their mortgage payments and are currently in foreclosure.  When this happens, homeowners are left alone with banks and lenders, who are foreclosure experts, and can tip the balance in their favor.

Yet, nearly ten years since the 2008 financial crisis, and although foreclosures are down nationally, the number of mortgages that are currently behind on their payments is on an upward swing. A high number of homeowners are “underwater,” which is when a house is worth less than what is owed on the mortgage, a critical indicator that may lead to losing their properties to foreclosure.

Facing this reality, Source One Consulting Group, a South Florida-based consulting company, is providing advice to homeowners that are about to lose their homes due to a default on their mortgage payments and are entering an official foreclosure process.

“We help homeowners negotiate with the lender to work out an agreement, either to obtain affordable refinancing or loan modifications and help them stay in their homes; or to sell the property (short sale) when that is the best way out. At the end of the day, we are here to help you find the best solution for your unique situation,” said Tony Lara, manager director of Source One Consulting Group and a mortgage lending expert with over 30 years of experience in the South Florida market.

As stated by several analysts, in 2013 alone, Florida ranked second in the nation for underwater mortgages with close to 30 percent of mortgages waterlogged; and managed to top all states in the country with the highest number of completed foreclosures (72,000) in 2015, according to a report from CoreLogic.

Often our community is given incorrect legal advice and takes desperate measures due to strong pressures from major lending institutions and banks. Mr. Lara states that Source One Consulting Group’s purpose is to provide accurate and responsible advice that will help homeowners save time and money by avoiding long-lasting legal procedures that will ultimately increase homeowner’s debt.

“With our free consultation and advice, we provide homeowners a real solution and alternatives that will prevent them from losing money in a market full of lawyers, who are experts in extending processes. Our goal is to give our clients enough options to reach a beneficial solution. Sometimes it is better to advise selling the property than to engage in a lasting legal battle,” commented Mr. Lara.
