Area Stage to Debut Coheed and Cambria’s The Amory Wars Stage Adaptation Aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jewel
Area Stage, in collaboration with progressive rock icons Coheed and Cambria and Evil Ink Comics, is set to launch a bold new theatrical adaptation of The Amory Wars. The world premiere will take place aboard the S.S. Neverender cruise, sailing from Miami to Cozumel from November 8–13, 2025.
This groundbreaking production marks a milestone for Area Stage, blending the power of rock music, the visual storytelling of graphic novels, and the emotion of musical theatre into an immersive experience at sea.
Based on Coheed and Cambria’s acclaimed album Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness and its companion Amory Wars graphic novels, the show follows the epic journey of Claudio Kilgannon — played by Thomas McFerran — as he traverses the interplanetary system known as The Keywork. Guided by Ambellina (Addison Schuh), Claudio must face destiny, love, and loss while uncovering the truth behind the forces threatening his world.
The cast also includes Frank Montoto as General Inferno, Katie Duerr as Erica Court, Luke Surretsky as Ten-Speed/Ryan, and John Mazuelos as Crom/Detective. Yasmine Harrell, Gabriela Alfonso, and Tico Chiriboga join the ensemble as the Red Army and rebels.
Directed and designed by Giancarlo Rodaz, the production features a powerhouse creative team: Katie Duerr (Music Director), Laz Hansen (Technical Director), Joe Naftal (Lighting Designer), Abraham Oleksnianski (Sound Designer), Luciano Cortes (Fight Choreography), Anjuli Kaufman (Props Master), Maria Banda-Rodaz (Costume Designer), and Mison Blazquez (Specialty Items).
Rehearsals begin October 21 at Area Stage’s South Miami studio before the company boards Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jewel, produced by Sixthman, for its debut as part of the S.S. Neverender festival.
Set against the vast expanse of the open sea, The Amory Wars promises an epic theatrical experience that bridges music, mythology, and storytelling — an unforgettable voyage for Coheed and Cambria fans and theater lovers alike.
