UKG Helps Make Children’s Harbor a Home

Children’s Harbor can continue to provide safe shelter and support to teens in foster care so that they may grow into healthy, educated and productive adults with the support of donors and sponsors. One opportunity to do that is to adopt a home.
UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, workforce management, and culture solutions and longtime supporter of Children’s Harbor, recently adopted one of the homes on the Children’s Harbor campus to help supplement the gap in funding for the residential program.
“Our philanthropic initiatives allow us to uplift our global communities and create opportunities for all people, particularly those that are commonly overlooked. We want to provide opportunities for the children and teens residing in Children’s Harbor to have normal childhood experiences during a time when their lives are anything but normal,” said Heather Geronemus, Senior Director of Social Equity, Opportunity and Impact for UKG.
Children’s Harbor is a nationally accredited non-profit agency with a mission to help strengthen families who are struggling in our community. With the belief that children should feel safe, that family is worth fighting for and that cycles can be broken, Children’s Harbor provides a harbor of hope and healing for children who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse. The main campus in Pembroke Pines provides a supportive family environment for teenagers in foster care and their younger siblings.

“We are so incredibly grateful for UKG’s ‘whatever it takes, wherever we’re needed’ dedication to Children’s Harbor,” said Children’s Harbor President and CEO Tiffani Dhooge. “The UKG team and Heather are always ready to respond for our kids. They have donated their time painting our houses and landscaping the property and provided technology and gifts for the families. They intentionally seek out ways to take care of our community, and we appreciate all that they do to help make life a bit easier for our families.”
UKG was recently named by Forbes as one of America’s Best Large Employers in 2024. The honor followed a string of recent recognitions for UKG and its culture, including a 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for the third consecutive year and being named to Newsweek’s Great Workplace for Diversity for the second consecutive year.
About Children’s Harbor

With the belief that children should feel safe, that family is worth fighting for and that cycles can be broken, Children’s Harbor provides a harbor of hope and healing for children who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse. The main campus in Pembroke Pines provides a supportive family environment for teenagers in foster care and their younger siblings. The family strengthening program prevents kids from coming into foster care by providing in-home counseling and support to families who are struggling in the community. Young adults aged 18-23 who have aged out of foster care are provided with housing and the wrap-around support and independent living programs necessary to help them overcome their trauma and navigate through the early stages of adulthood.
Brown’s Harbor is a supportive housing community that offers on-site staff, training, and wrap-around support services for young adults who have aged out of the foster care system, ages 18-23, helping to bridge the gap from dependence to independence.
