A new study conducted by AI search analytics platform Peec AI found that Florida ranks 16th in the U.S., with STEM professionals earning an average annual salary of $105,570 — about 3.4% higher than the national average.

The analysis, which reviewed 76 STEM-related occupations based on data from Glassdoor, highlights how Florida’s growing healthcare and technology industries are driving competitive wages, particularly in Miami-Dade County.

This is followed by orthopedic surgeons ($246,733), dentists ($234,423), dermatologists ($220,321), and psychiatrists ($220,284). These roles underscore how Florida’s robust healthcare sector, especially in South Florida, continues to offer strong earning potential for specialized professionals.

On the other end of the scale, forensic science technicians earn an average of $47,127 per year, reflecting the broad range of pay within the STEM field depending on specialization and education.

Florida ranks high in the U.S. for STEM salaries, driven by high-paying medical roles like orthopedic surgeons and anesthesiologists,” said Malte Landwehr, CMO of Peec AI. “The state’s strong healthcare industry and growing tech sector continue to offer some of the most competitive pay in the nation.”

Nationally, California leads with an average STEM salary of $152,761, followed by Washington ($148,550), New York ($135,380), Maryland ($125,771), and Colorado ($124,865).
