Miami-Dade Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

From September 15 through October 15, Miami-Dade will celebrate Hispanic culture, history and contributions with music, art, festivals and activities for the entire community.

Miami-Dade is preparing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month 2026, a month-long observance that this year carries the theme “Unidos, Somos Más” (“Together, We Are More”) and features a wide range of events recognizing the diversity, traditions and contributions of the Hispanic community.

The celebration will run from September 15 through October 15, continuing a national tradition that began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon B. Johnson. Two decades later, the observance was expanded to a 30-day period and enacted into law in 1988.

In Miami-Dade, the Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board will lead several activities. The celebration begins Tuesday, September 15, at 11 a.m. at the Stephen P. Clark Center, with a free event open to the public. The program will include musical tributes to Celia Cruz, Colombia and Venezuela, along with a special one-day exhibition featuring more than 40 works of art.

Celebrations continue Friday, September 18, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, with an evening highlighting quinceañera culture and its connections to history, heritage and community.

On Saturday, September 19, at 5 p.m., The Underline will host a free benefit concert supporting communities impacted by earthquakes in Venezuela and Colombia. The event will bring together live music, culture and collective action.

The calendar also includes the Strategic Procurement Department’s National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Wednesday, October 7.

On Saturday, October 10, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Country Village Park, located at 6550 NW 188th Terrace, will host the Hispanic Heritage Festival, a community celebration with Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert III.

The Miami-Dade Public Library System will also participate with online programs, outdoor activities and recommended reading for people of all ages.

Beyond the festivities, Hispanic Heritage Month provides an opportunity to recognize the influence of a community deeply connected to Miami-Dade’s identity.

Throughout the year, the Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board works to identify the needs and interests of Hispanic residents, encourage community involvement and support the development of Hispanic leaders.
