New Soccer Park Opens in Miami
More than 150 children and families were among the first to experience a new place to play soccer in the heart of Miami. The Visa Street Soccer Park, unveiled at Henry Reeves Park, is designed to use the sport as a way to bring the community together, support youth development and create new opportunities for local families.
Located at 528 NW 10th St. in Miami, the park was developed by Visa, Street Soccer USA (SSUSA) and Bank of America as part of an initiative creating similar soccer spaces in cities across the United States.
The opening brought together young athletes, families, community leaders and representatives from the participating organizations. The celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an inaugural youth match, interactive soccer clinics, local food vendors and family-friendly activities.
Among the main features are two Bank of America soccer fields with professional-grade turf. The park also includes a financial education learning center and flexible spaces that can be used for community events and local programming.
More Than a Place to Play SoccerStreet Soccer USA works with communities through soccer-based programs designed to help young people build skills, confidence and opportunities. The nonprofit currently operates in 16 cities nationwide and serves tens of thousands of youth and families each year.
The new Miami park brings that mission into a neighborhood setting where the space can also serve as a gathering place for local residents.
“This is where goals and dreams start,” said George Bermudez, senior vice president with Bank of America Miami. “This is where kids want to become part of a group and begin to learn the value of teamwork.”
The initiative is based on the idea that access to safe and welcoming recreational spaces can have an impact beyond physical activity. Organized sports can give young people opportunities to develop discipline, confidence, social connections and a sense of belonging.
For Miami, the opening also represents a long-term investment in a public space intended not only for soccer, but also for educational programs and community activities.
With the ribbon now cut, attention turns to the programming that will take place at the new facility and the level of participation it generates among local residents. Combining soccer fields, financial education and community activity areas expands the traditional role of a neighborhood park.
Moving forward, community participation and the continuity of youth programming will help determine the project’s long-term reach at Henry Reeves Park and the role the new space ultimately plays for children and families in the surrounding community.
