Habitat Acres Opens New Affordable Homeownership Opportunities for Families in South Miami-Dade
As housing costs continue to rise across South Florida, a new initiative aims to provide hope and stability for working families dreaming of owning their own home. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami has announced the development of Habitat Acres, a new community that will feature 150 affordable three- and four-bedroom townhomes located in Leisure City in South Miami-Dade County.
The project is designed to help qualifying families achieve homeownership through 0% interest mortgages and no down payment, making it possible for many households to purchase a home while paying less than what they currently spend on rent.
Over the years, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 1,300 families in Miami become homeowners. The organization’s model combines affordable housing with financial education and community participation, helping families build long-term stability and generational wealth.
Homes Designed for Growing Families
Habitat Acres will feature 150 two-story townhomes with modern and practical layouts. The development is located at the intersection of SW 150th Avenue and SW 280th Street, offering convenient access to essential services and local amenities.
Each home will include:
• 3- and 4-bedroom options
• 2 full bathrooms
• Open-concept kitchen, dining, and living spaces
• Four unique floorplans to choose from
• Two reserved parking spaces per home
Currently, 21 three-bedroom homes are available, requiring a minimum household income of $55,000, and two four-bedroom homes are available with a minimum household income of $58,000.
The community’s location also offers convenient access to everyday necessities. Nearby residents will find parks, schools, Fresco y Más, Walgreens, and Walmart Supercenter, while Baptist Homestead Hospital is only about a 10-minute drive away. Local favorites like Shiver’s BBQ are just minutes from the community. Additionally, quick access to Florida’s Turnpike and Old Dixie Highway makes commuting easier for residents.
