Local Authors Take Center Stage at the 2026 Book Fair

Miami-Dade County’s literary community will be in the spotlight at the 2026 Local Author Book Fair, a free event that brings together writers, readers, and families to celebrate the rich creative culture of South Florida. Hosted by the Miami-Dade Public Library System, the fair invites the public to discover new voices, engage in educational programming, and connect directly with the authors behind the books.

The event will take place on Saturday, January 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Main Library, located at 101 West Flagler Street in Miami.

The Author Exhibit Hall opens at 1 p.m., offering attendees the chance to meet authors and explore their work. Free parking with validation will be available at the Miami-Dade Cultural Center Garage (50 NW 2nd Avenue), and the Government Center Metrorail Station is conveniently located directly across the street.

More than 80 local authors will participate in this year’s fair, which will feature author presentations, readings, storytimes, and publishing workshops. Among the keynote guests is Brad Meltzer, a New York Times bestselling author, who will share insights from his work writing thrillers, children’s books, and iconic comic book characters. Also appearing are Ron Magill of Zoo Miami and Greg Cote of The Miami Herald, who will discuss their book The Pride of a Lion, exploring lessons from the animal kingdom about survival, fear, and family.

Additional programming includes a publishing workshop led by Miami-based author Asha Elias, designed to demystify the publishing process, and a creative session by children’s author Sita Singh, focused on discovering and developing story ideas. Fans of illustration will enjoy sessions led by Ralph Cabrera, an artist known for his work with Marvel and DC Comics.
