MetroConnect implements service changes across Miami-Dade starting February 1
Beginning Sunday, February 1, MetroConnect riders across Miami-Dade County, particularly in South Dade, will see important updates to the on-demand transit service. The changes include standardized service hours, updated fares, and adjustments to service zones, aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening connections with the county’s broader public transportation network.
One of the most notable changes is that MetroConnect will no longer operate in the Civic Center and Waterford Business District zones. While MetroConnect service will be discontinued in these areas, riders will continue to have access to multiple transportation alternatives through Miami-Dade Transit, Broward County Transit, and municipal trolley routes.
For commuters traveling to or from the Waterford Business District, Miami-Dade Transit Routes 7, 57, and 73 will remain available. Access to the Civic Center area will continue through a wide range of Miami-Dade Transit services, including Routes 2, 3, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22, 27, 32, 77, 95, 100, 101, 203, 207, 208, 211, 836, and 837, along with service at the UHealth Jackson Metrorail Station.
Residents in South Dade who commute north or connect to Broward County will also continue to benefit from Broward County Transit Routes 106, 108, 109, 110, and 114. In addition, several City of Miami trolley routes remain in operation, including Biscayne, Stadium, Little Havana, Allapattah, Coral Way, Health District, Wynwood, and Overtown, providing convenient local travel options for workers, families, and visitors.
Updated service hours and fares.
Effective February 1, MetroConnect will operate Monday through Friday only, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Weekend service will no longer be available in any zone, a change expected to primarily impact riders who use the service for non-work trips.
Fare updates will also take effect. The standard MetroConnect fare will be $3.75 per person per trip, payable at the time of booking through the MetroConnect app. Riders who begin or end their trip at a designated transit hub connecting with Metrorail, Metrobus, or the South Dade TransitWay will qualify for a discounted fare of $1.50. Eligible transit hubs will be clearly identified within the app during the booking process.
