Miami-Dade Encourages World Cup 2026 Fans to Use Public Transit for a Smooth and Stress-Free Experience
As Miami prepares to take center stage during the FIFA World Cup 2026, local officials are encouraging residents and visitors to take advantage of public transportation options designed to make getting around easier during the tournament. With seven matches scheduled at Miami Stadium in Miami Gardens, a 23-day Fan Fest celebration at Bayfront Park, and more than 600,000 visitors expected across the region, transportation will play a critical role in the overall World Cup experience.
To help fans avoid traffic congestion and parking challenges, Miami-Dade County has introduced several transportation solutions aimed at moving visitors efficiently between key destinations throughout the tournament.
One of the most significant initiatives is the Miami Game Day Express, a free shuttle service available exclusively to verified match ticket holders. The dedicated service will provide direct transportation between four major transit hubs and Miami Stadium, allowing fans to travel to and from matches without worrying about driving, parking, or navigating heavy traffic.
Official shuttle departure locations include the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza Metrorail Station, Golden Glades Multimodal Transit Station and Tri-Rail, the Brightline Aventura Station, and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Shuttle operations will begin approximately four hours before each match and continue after the final whistle to help spectators return safely and conveniently.
Beyond the stadium experience, thousands of soccer fans are expected to gather at the FIFA Fan Fest, which will take place at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami from June 13 through July 5. The event will feature live match broadcasts, interactive fan experiences, entertainment, food vendors, cultural activities, and family-friendly attractions throughout the tournament.
For visitors attending Fan Fest, officials recommend using Miami’s free Metromover system, which connects Downtown Miami, Brickell, and the Omni district. To accommodate increased demand, Metromover service will operate until midnight throughout the event, while both Metrorail and Metromover will extend service until 1 a.m. on several high-attendance match days.
Fans can also take advantage of modern contactless payment options when using public transit, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Mobile applications such as the GO Miami-Dade App, Citymapper, Transit App, Moovit, and SoFloGo will provide real-time updates, route planning, and fare purchasing options
.For those planning to drive, parking at Miami Stadium must be purchased in advance through FIFA’s official parking platform, as no match-day parking sales will be available at the venue. Rideshare users should also note that designated pickup and drop-off locations will be used instead of direct stadium access.
With the eyes of the world focused on South Florida, Miami-Dade is working to ensure that transportation becomes part of the celebration rather than a challenge.
By using public transit, fans can spend less time in traffic and more time enjoying the excitement, energy, and unforgettable memories of FIFA World Cup 2026.
