Ring in the New Year and Ride Home on Public Transit
Celebrating New Year’s Eve in Miami can be an exciting way to welcome the year ahead, and this December 31, getting around the city safely and conveniently will be easier thanks to Miami-Dade Transit’s extended service. With late-night operations on Metrorail and Metromover, residents and visitors can enjoy New Year’s festivities and ride home without the stress of traffic or parking.
On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Metrobus and MetroConnect will operate on a regular weekday schedule. To support New Year’s Eve celebrations, Metrorail and Metromover will provide extended service until 2 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, with Green and Orange Line trains running every 30 minutes. This extended service offers a safe and reliable transportation option for those attending late-night events across the county.
Travelers heading to celebrations in Downtown Miami should note that the last northbound and southbound trains will depart from Government Center Station at approximately 2 a.m. After that time, station entry will no longer be permitted, though passengers already inside the system will be allowed to exit.
On Thursday, January 1, 2026, Metrobus and MetroConnect will operate on a Sunday schedule, while Metrorail and Metromover will run on their regular weekend schedule. In addition, parking facilities at Metrorail stations will remain open until 3 a.m., providing added convenience for riders who park and ride.
While all Miami-Dade County offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, Special Transportation Services (STS) will not be impacted and will continue to operate on a regular schedule. STS customers may reserve or cancel trips by calling 305-871-1111.
Transit riders are encouraged to take advantage of digital and contactless payment options, including purchasing or reloading an EASY Card through the Transit Store, the Go Miami-Dade App, Token Transit App, Citymapper, Transit App, or by using contactless payment methods. Real-time service updates and trip planning tools are also available through these platforms.
As Miami welcomes the New Year, Miami-Dade Transit encourages the community to choose public transportation for a safer, smoother, and more sustainable way to celebrate and return home. With extended service, flexible payment options, and reliable schedules, public transit makes it easier to start the year on the right track.
