Scholarships That Strengthen Communities: Miami Architecture Students Lead the Future of Historic Preservation

This year, The Villagers reaffirmed its commitment to the future by awarding $24,000 in scholarships to four outstanding architecture students from the University of Miami.

The recipients—Catalina Cabral-Framinan, Patricia Llerena Perez, Isa Jimenez and Amanda Verdeja—have demonstrated exceptional dedication to historic preservation, a field that plays a vital role in protecting the region’s architectural identity.

For students like Amanda Verdeja, these opportunities extend far beyond the classroom. “I now have the chance to return to Europe not as a tourist, but as a student, to study these places more closely and listen to the stories within their walls,” she shared, highlighting the value of immersive, real-world learning experiences.
