AutoNation Marks 10 Years of Fighting Cancer
AutoNation is marking the 10th anniversary of its DRV PNK initiative with a new $1 million investment aimed at advancing cancer research and expanding support for patients, survivors and their families.
The company announced 10 grants of $100,000 each to organizations that have worked alongside the program for years. The new commitment comes as DRV PNK reaches another significant milestone: more than $50 million raised and donated nationwide since the initiative was launched.
The grants were announced at AutoNation’s headquarters in Fort Lauderdale during DRV PNK Across America Day, an annual event that brings together thousands of company Associates to assemble and personally deliver “Totes for Hope” care bags to pediatric and adult cancer patients at hospitals and partner organizations across the country.
Over the past decade, AutoNation Associates have contributed more than 7,500 volunteer hours and packed and delivered more than 40,000 Totes for Hope. The bags are filled with comfort items designed to provide support to patients and their families during cancer treatment.
“Ten years ago, we set out to make a difference in the fight against cancer, but DRV PNK has become much more than a fundraising effort,” said Mike Manley, chief executive officer of AutoNation. According to Manley, the initiative has become part of the company’s culture as thousands of Associates across more than 300 locations participate in fundraising, volunteer activities and community support.
The new grants will benefit the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Cleveland Clinic Florida, CURE Childhood Cancer, Moffitt Cancer Center, National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Providence St. Jude Medical Center, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Wipe Out Kids Cancer.
Funding will support new and expanded programs focused on cancer research, education, prevention and direct assistance. Initiatives include accelerating early-career research, expanding access to genetic counseling and integrative therapies, providing free transportation to treatment and addressing food insecurity among families affected by pediatric cancer.
DRV PNK’s impact also includes funding more than 170,000 hours of breast cancer research and inspiring more than one million individual customer donations.
Beyond cancer-related efforts, AutoNation’s community outreach focuses on youth empowerment through career pathways and education, particularly financial literacy.
As DRV PNK enters its second decade, the initiative continues combining research funding, volunteerism and direct patient support to help communities affected by cancer nationwide.
