Colon Cancer Screenings this Saturday in Miami

This Saturday, August 23, the South Florida community will have a unique opportunity to take charge of their health. Guardant Health, a leader in precision oncology, together with the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC), invites residents to attend a special pre-game event at the Hard Rock Stadium’s Dolphins Fan Zone from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The event will feature colorectal cancer screenings using the innovative Shield™ blood test.

Former Miami Dolphins player Nat Moore will join the initiative and be screened on-site, helping raise awareness about the importance of early detection and encouraging the community to take part.

A Simple, Innovative Way to Detect Cancer Early
Guardant Health recently introduced Shield, the first FDA-approved blood test for primary colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. Unlike traditional colonoscopies, Shield requires only a routine blood draw—fast, simple, and non-invasive. Results are available in about two weeks, making it easier than ever for people to prioritize their health.

The need for screening is urgent. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Yet, 1 in 3 eligible Americans—over 50 million people—are not up to date with their screenings. When detected early, colorectal cancer has a 91% five-year survival rate, proving the life-saving power of early detection.

This effort is part of Guardant Health and the Dolphins Cancer Challenge’s broader mission to close the nationwide CRC screening gap and support innovative cancer research. Since its founding, the DCC has raised nearly $100 million for Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, making it the largest fundraising initiative in the NFL dedicated to cancer research.
