Florida Panthers Celebrate Latino Excellence
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the NHL team recognizes the contributions of South Florida’s Latino community, highlighting Alyssa Dazza for her leadership, dedication to public service and commitment to animal welfare in Broward County.
Latino talent, dedication and leadership continue to make a lasting impact across South Florida. Through their Celebration of Hispanic Excellence initiative, the Florida Panthers, a National Hockey League (NHL) team, are honoring individuals whose achievements and contributions help strengthen the communities they serve.
Among this year’s honorees is Alyssa Dazza, assistant director of Broward County Animal Care, whose career in public service reflects the commitment of Hispanic professionals to making a meaningful difference in their communities.
The initiative celebrates Latino achievements in education, business, public service and community leadership, bringing greater visibility to inspiring stories that deserve recognition.
A Latina Making a Difference
A graduate of Florida International University (FIU), Dazza plays a key role in overseeing Broward County Animal Care, the county’s official animal adoption and welfare agency.
In her leadership position, she supervises shelter operations, field services and programs designed to protect animals while supporting pet owners and families throughout Broward County.
“Alyssa has been an effective partner in helping us drive Broward County Animal Care toward the excellence this community deserves,” said Doug Brightwell, director of Animal Care.
Over the past two years, Dazza and her team have worked to improve animal care services, strengthen shelter operations and achieve significant progress in lifesaving outcomes.
Leadership That Inspires Change
Her dedication extends beyond her professional responsibilities. Dazza is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Shelter Medicine at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, further strengthening her expertise in animal welfare.
“Our team has worked very hard over the past two years to produce a high-quality shelter experience for our residents and the animals in our care,” Dazza said.
Her long-term vision is to continue improving services and help transform Broward County Animal Care into a world-class animal shelter.
Honoring the Contributions of the Hispanic Community
Through Celebration of Hispanic Excellence, the Florida Panthers are recognizing a community whose influence reaches far beyond sports, shaping businesses, institutions and public services throughout South Florida.
Dazza’s recognition also highlights the dedication of public servants who work every day to improve the quality of life for Broward County residents.
As Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates Latino culture and accomplishments, her story serves as a reminder that Hispanic excellence is reflected not only in cultural traditions but also in professional achievements, leadership and meaningful contributions that make communities stronger.
