Miami-Dade Opens Small Business Grant Opportunities to Help Local Entrepreneurs Grow
Small businesses remain one of the driving forces behind South Florida’s economy, and many local entrepreneurs now have an opportunity to strengthen their operations through the Miami-Dade County Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program.
The initiative provides financial assistance to independently owned and operated businesses, helping them invest in essential resources that promote growth, competitiveness, and long-term success. Eligible businesses can use grant funds to purchase equipment, supplies, inventory, advertising and marketing services, building liability insurance, security systems, or make minor renovations to their facilities.
Grant opportunities are currently available for businesses located in County Commission Districts 5 and 6, with each district offering funding tailored to support its local business community.
In District 5, represented by Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez, qualifying small businesses may apply for grants of up to $1,500. Applications became available on June 23 and will be accepted through July 10. Completed applications must be submitted in person in a sealed envelope no later than 4:00 p.m. on July 10. Only one application per business will be accepted, and late submissions will automatically be disqualified.
District 5 applications may be submitted at either of the following locations: Miami District Office: 2100 Coral Way, Suite 400, Miami, FL 33145 (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Miami Beach District Office: 1700 Convention Center Drive, First Floor, Miami Beach, FL 33139 (Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
Meanwhile, businesses located in District 6 have the opportunity to receive grants of up to $5,000 through the 2026 District 6 Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program.
Business owners can pick up applications at the District 6 Office, located at 1000 SW 57th Avenue, Suite 201, Miami, FL 33144, during the application pickup period from June 15 through June 29.
Completed applications must be submitted in person at the District 6 Office between July 6 and July 10 by 4:00 p.m. Business owners can also review eligibility requirements, application instructions, and available grant workshops by visiting miamidade.gov/district06, calling 305-267-6377, or emailing district6@miamidade.gov.
The program is designed to support businesses navigating the challenges of today’s competitive marketplace. Unlike many funding opportunities, the grant is also available to home-based businesses, expanding access for entrepreneurs who operate outside of traditional commercial spaces.To qualify, businesses must operate for profit, maintain a physical address within the applicable commission district, and cannot be part of a national chain.
Applicants must also provide supporting documentation, including a W-9 form, Municipal Local Business Tax Certificate, applicable business licenses, and any additional documents required by their district office.
