NASCAR Accelerates Homestead’s Future
Homestead-Miami Speedway will once again crown NASCAR’s national series champions in 2027, while a $20 million investment transforms the iconic venue and strengthens tourism and economic opportunities across South Dade.
Homestead is celebrating another major victory beyond the racetrack. NASCAR Championship Weekend will return to Homestead-Miami Speedway Nov. 12–14, 2027, securing one of the country’s premier motorsports events in South Florida for a second consecutive year.
The announcement comes as Homestead prepares to welcome the championship back Nov. 6–8, 2026, following a six-year absence. Its return will coincide with a major $20 million renovation project designed to modernize the Speedway and enhance the experience for race fans.
“Bringing NASCAR Championship Weekend home to Homestead for two consecutive years is an extraordinary opportunity for our community,” said Mayor Steven D. Losner, highlighting the Speedway’s longtime role in generating tourism and economic activity for the city.
The 2027 event will carry additional significance. It will mark the 20th time Homestead-Miami Speedway has hosted NASCAR Championship Weekend. The South Florida track served as NASCAR’s championship venue for 18 consecutive seasons from 2002 through 2019 before the season finale moved to Phoenix Raceway from 2020 through 2025.
Racing in 2027 will begin Friday, Nov. 12, with the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will take center stage Saturday, Nov. 13, followed by the NASCAR Cup Series championship on Sunday, Nov. 14.
But the transformation of Homestead-Miami Speedway will begin well before then.
Fans attending the 2026 championship weekend will be among the first to experience improvements included in the $20 million renovation, scheduled to open this fall.
The project features a new primary gate experience, a comprehensive renovation of the Ally Champions Club, an expanded fan zone and additional aesthetic and operational improvements throughout the facility.
For Homestead, the benefits extend far beyond racing.
Councilman Sean Fletcher emphasized that NASCAR Championship Weekend brings visitors into the community, supports local businesses and provides an opportunity to showcase Homestead and South Dade to a national audience.
Hosting back-to-back championship weekends also complements the city’s broader strategy of positioning Homestead as a destination for sports, entertainment, recreation and tourism.
With two championship weekends secured and millions of dollars being invested in its signature racing facility, Homestead is doing more than bringing back a celebrated tradition.
The city is strengthening its place on the national motorsports map while creating new economic and tourism opportunities for the entire South Florida region.
