Homestead Promotes Community Health
The city will host its second annual Health & Wellness Fair, offering free health screenings, dental services, preventive education and activities for the entire family.
The City of Homestead is inviting residents and families to participate in its 2nd Annual Community Health & Wellness Fair, a free event designed to bring essential preventive health services and community resources directly to local residents.
The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Phichol Williams Community Center, located at 951 SW 4th Street in Homestead.
Hosted by the city’s Community Development & Human Services Division, the fair will bring together healthcare providers, community organizations and public agencies to provide information and services for residents of all ages.
One of the initiative’s main goals is to help address health disparities and improve access to preventive care, particularly in underserved neighborhoods where residents may face greater barriers to obtaining essential health services.
During the event, attendees will have access to free prostate, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings. Basic health screenings will also be available, including blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol checks, body mass index (BMI), body fat analysis and diabetes risk assessments.
Oral health will also be part of the program. A mobile dental clinic will provide free comprehensive dental care for low-income and uninsured individuals in Miami-Dade County.
In addition to medical services, local healthcare providers, community organizations and public agencies will host informational tables offering guidance on wellness, prevention and resources available to families.
The fair will also feature a recreational component designed to make healthy living more engaging. Visitors can participate in interactive activities such as smoothie bikes, fitness demonstrations and family entertainment, combining education with practical ways to encourage healthier habits.
Attendees will also have opportunities to participate in raffles and giveaways. Prizes announced for the event include Apple Watches, a Ninja blender and workout items, along with take-home educational materials focused on healthy lifestyles.
With its second annual fair, Homestead continues its efforts to bring prevention and wellness resources directly into the community, helping residents access information and services that may identify potential health concerns before they become more serious.The event is free and open to the public.
