Navarro Discount Pharmacy Expands WIC Access Across Miami-Dade

Families participating in the Women, Infants, and Children program now have more options to purchase nutritious foods and infant formula across Miami-Dade County.

Navarro Discount Pharmacy announced that 28 of its locations throughout Greater Miami are now authorized to accept WIC benefits for eligible grocery items and infant formula, expanding access to essential products for thousands of local families.

The pharmacies, owned and operated by CVS Health, are among the first CVS Pharmacy locations in the United States outside of Hawaii authorized to accept WIC benefits for both grocery products and infant formula.

The expansion is particularly significant in Miami-Dade, where Navarro has maintained a strong presence for decades and serves communities from Hialeah and Miami to Doral, Homestead, North Miami, Miami Beach and Sunny Isles Beach.

“WIC plays an important role in helping families access infant formula and nutritious foods for their children,” said Zach Dennett, Vice President of Merchandising at CVS Health. “By accepting WIC benefits at Navarro locations across Greater Miami, we’re helping make it easier for local families to access these important products in the communities where they live.”

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federally funded program designed to support eligible pregnant women, new mothers, infants and young children. In addition to providing access to nutritious foods, the program offers nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to health care and other services.

At participating Navarro stores, WIC participants can now use their benefits to purchase approved products, including qualifying infant formula and select grocery items, in accordance with WIC program guidelines.

The 28 participating locations are spread throughout Miami-Dade County, including stores on West Flagler Street, Southwest 8th Street, Bird Road, Biscayne Boulevard and Kendall, as well as several locations in Hialeah. Participating stores also include the Navarro at 11402 NW 41st Street in Doral, 2614 NE 10th Court in Homestead, 631 71st Street in Miami Beach, and 18500 Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles Beach.

Other participating locations serve Coral Gables, North Miami and Hialeah Gardens, giving families additional options closer to home.

For WIC families, the change means more than simply adding another retailer. Having additional neighborhood locations where benefits can be used can make routine grocery and infant formula purchases more convenient, particularly for parents balancing transportation, work and child care.
