City of Homestead Police Department Awarded Nearly $250,000 Department of Justice Grant for Law Enforcement Accreditation

The City of Homestead is proud to announce that its Police Department has been awarded a $249,962 grant from the Department of Justice (DOJ) as part of the Community Policing Development (CPD) program. This significant funding will support the department’s efforts to achieve law enforcement accreditation, enhancing its ability to serve and protect the community.

The grant is designed to improve public safety through the professionalization of police agencies. Accreditation provides a framework for agencies to establish best practices in policing, strengthening accountability, transparency, and community trust. By meeting these standards, agencies build confidence among the communities they serve.

This award is a pathway for attaining the highest standards of policing and promoting transparency in law enforcement. It is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the Homestead Police Department under Chief of Police, Alexander Rolle, Jr., and the command leadership.

The Community Policing Development program, administered by the DOJ’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), provides resources to help law enforcement agencies enhance community policing practices and build safer neighborhoods. With this funding, Homestead’s Police Department will be able to pursue accreditation, ensuring its policies and procedures reflect the latest advancements in public safety, accountability, and community engagement.
