Expressing Gratitude to Our Servicemen at the 11th Annual Military Appreciation Day at Homestead
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Homestead community will come together to express gratitude to all the heroes safeguarding our borders and our country’s pride, onshore and offshore. Scheduled at Losner Park at 104 North Krome Avenue, the Military Appreciation Day celebrations will start at 17:00 and end at 21:00.
Downtown Homestead will wear military colors on this day to show solidarity with our soldiers and their resilient ‘never-say-die’ spirit. Attendees are in for memorable surprises, making it all worth the wait. While the event is meant to honor our service members, it also offers the common man and woman an exclusive opportunity to experience the indomitable essence of being a military person. Therefore, there will be multiple displays and some hands-on activities for attendees to participate in and get the feel of serving the country.
What’s There for Attendees?
The venue will transform into a home (for a few hours) to an assorted collection of specially tailored military equipment, including new-age vehicles, high-tech weapons, and interactive displays to honor these servicemen. The visitors will have an excellent opportunity to learn about the evolution of military weapons and equipment.
What else?
Civilians who want to thank the military for their loyalty and courage can write it at the ‘Letters to Military’ station. You do not have to know anyone personally to say ‘thank you.’ Your written messages to anonymous soldiers can make a difference in their lives and motivate them to do their best.
The rock climbing walls offer adventure enthusiasts a creative way to indulge their passion. You are also welcome to participate in dart battles to discover your hidden talent and showcase your skills.
Special Gesture for Servicemen & Women
As a special gesture, all those actively serving or who have served in the military in the past, including veterans and reserve members, can get a $10 food voucher redeemable at the food trucks. You need to carry your military ID and show it as proof. The vouchers can be obtained from the MAC tent.
A Community-Driven Initiative to Celebrate Military in Homestead
The City of Homestead, the Military Affairs Council, Homestead Reserve Air Base, The Seminole Theatre, Monroe Marauders, and Homestead Main Street jointly organize the event. The event focuses on bridging the gap between civilians and the military to promote solidarity and gratitude in the community.
This is a must-participate event if you wish to show your appreciation to all our soldiers. Let’s unite as a community on May 11, 2024, and convey our deepest acknowledgment to the military. For more information visit www.cityofhomestead.com
