Florida Shines with Two Colleges Among America’s Top 10 for Marketable Apparel
Florida is making waves in collegiate fashion, with two of its universities ranking among the top 10 most marketable colleges in the United States for apparel. The University of Florida (UF) and Florida State University (FSU) stand out not only in the state but also on the national stage, reflecting Florida’s strong presence in college branding and merchandise sales.
A recent study by RushOrderTees, a custom apparel expert, analyzed eBay listings for branded clothing across 212 colleges nationwide. The results show that the University of Florida boasts 8,727 listings on eBay for its apparel, securing the second spot nationally for marketable college merchandise. Following closely is Florida State University, with 7,488 listings, ranking fifth in the country.
The University of Miami, another Florida institution, also made a notable appearance, ranking 15th nationally with 4,150 apparel listings. The University of Central Florida and Florida A&M University contribute further to Florida’s strong showing, ranked 24th and 26th respectively, with thousands of apparel listings reflecting their growing popularity.
These rankings underscore Florida’s vibrant collegiate culture, extending beyond the campuses to cities such as Miami-Dade and Broward counties, where large populations and diverse communities fuel demand for college-branded clothing. From sporting events to casual wear, college apparel serves as a symbol of pride and loyalty.
Nationally, Pennsylvania State University leads with 9,323 eBay listings for college apparel, while other universities such as the University of Michigan and UCLA follow closely behind Florida’s top schools. Yet Florida’s presence with multiple colleges in the top 20 highlights the state’s dynamic combination of academic reputation and athletic success, which drives apparel sales.
Mike Nemeroff, CEO of RushOrderTees, explains the appeal: “College apparel is not just about showing school spirit; it’s a fashion statement. Strong athletic programs boost a college’s brand, making its merchandise attractive even to those who may not attend the university.”
For residents of Florida’s key counties like Miami-Dade and Broward, this means access to some of the most popular and stylish collegiate apparel in the country. Whether attending a University of Florida football game, supporting Florida State’s basketball team, or simply showing hometown pride, Floridians enjoy a rich selection of apparel that connects them to their favorite schools.
In conclusion, Florida’s colleges have successfully merged academics, sports, and fashion, creating a market for apparel that resonates locally and nationally. This trend benefits students, alumni, and fans alike—helping build community and pride throughout the Sunshine State.
