Free Mobile Veterinary Clinic Continues Providing Essential Services in South Miami-Dade

In an ongoing effort to expand access to essential animal healthcare, Miami-Dade County Animal Services continues operating its free WOW (Wellness on Wheels) Mobile Veterinary Clinic, a program designed to support pet owners in underserved communities with limited access to veterinary care.

This innovative initiative focuses on areas often referred to as “veterinary deserts,” where access to affordable and nearby veterinary services is scarce. Every few months, the fully equipped mobile unit selects a location within the county and remains there for a minimum of three months, ensuring consistent access to care and a stronger community impact.

Currently, the WOW Mobile Veterinary Clinic continues to operate at the South Dade Government Center, located at 10710 SW 211 St, Cutler Bay, FL 33189, just outside the Community Cat Clinic. Since arriving on February 9, the clinic has been providing free services and will remain available through April 29, offering essential care to local pet owners.

Available services include vaccinations, booster shots, deworming, flea prevention, and referrals for spay and neuter surgeries. These services are vital not only for maintaining the health of pets but also for preventing disease and helping manage the pet population in the community.

Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and residents are encouraged to arrive early due to high demand. The clinic operates Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is closed Thursday through Sunday, as well as on county-observed holidays.

This initiative has been made possible through the generous support of the Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Inc., which contributed both the mobile unit and funding for its operations. Their partnership highlights a shared commitment to improving animal welfare and supporting families who may face financial barriers to accessing veterinary care.
