Flying from MIA? Reserve Your Parking Before You Leave Home

Traveling through Miami International Airport (MIA) can now begin with one less thing to worry about. Passengers have the option to reserve and prepay for airport parking, allowing travelers to secure a spot in the Dolphin or Flamingo garages before heading to the airport.

The service allows passengers to make parking reservations up to one year in advance, making it particularly useful during busy travel periods, holiday weekends and peak seasons when thousands of travelers pass through MIA every day.

The process is simple. After completing the reservation and payment, travelers receive a confirmation email containing a QR code. Upon arriving at the selected parking garage, drivers simply scan the code at the entrance and the gate will open.

MIA reminds passengers who have prepaid not to pull a parking ticket at the entrance, as doing so could result in an additional parking charge. Once inside, travelers can park in any available space and head directly to the terminal.

When returning from their trip, drivers use the same QR code to exit the garage. Passengers who stay beyond their reserved parking period may be required to pay the difference before exiting.

Reservations also provide travelers with some flexibility. Parking can be modified or canceled up to 24 hours before the scheduled reservation time. However, the $2.99 reservation fee is non-refundable.

MIA’s regular garage parking rates are currently $2 for every 20-minute increment, with a maximum daily rate of $25, which applies after four hours.

Accepted payment methods include cash and major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Digital payments through Apple Pay and Samsung Pay are also accepted.

Parking availability can change throughout the day. As of midday Aug. 16, MIA reported 1,192 available spaces in the Dolphin Garage and 1,513 in the Flamingo Garage, highlighting why reserving ahead of time can be especially helpful as busy travel dates approach.
