Coconut Grove Emerges as One of Miami’s Premier Destinations During FIFA World Cup 2026
As Miami prepares to welcome thousands of visitors from around the globe for the FIFA World Cup 2026, one of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods is positioning itself as a vibrant hub for soccer fans, families, and travelers looking to experience the excitement of the tournament beyond the stadiums. Through a series of community celebrations, public watch parties, and interactive attractions, Coconut Grove is set to become one of South Florida’s top World Cup destinations.
The festivities will officially kick off on June 13 with “The Grove Cup,” a free public watch party at Peacock Park featuring the highly anticipated Brazil vs. Morocco match. Taking place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the waterfront park, the event will bring together residents and visitors for an evening of live soccer, entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities in one of Miami’s most scenic settings.
Guests will enjoy a variety of attractions, including The Grove Soccer Experience for children, live DJs and entertainment, a themed photo booth, local food vendors through the “Taste of the Grove” initiative, and special Father’s Day weekend activities. Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring blankets, chairs, and jerseys representing their favorite national teams to fully embrace the World Cup atmosphere.
Beyond the match-day excitement, Coconut Grove will also showcase its creative side through “Play the Grove,” an interactive art installation at CocoWalk running from June 10 through July 10. Created by MIRTH Studio in collaboration with estudioLAAVA, the exhibit reimagines a soccer field as an immersive sculptural playground inspired by the movement, energy, and culture of the world’s most popular sport. The installation invites visitors of all ages to explore, interact, and experience soccer from a unique artistic perspective.
“Coconut Grove has always been about community, and this is one of those moments where that spirit truly comes to life,” said Mark Burns, Executive Director of the Coconut Grove BID. “We’re excited to welcome both locals and visitors during the World Cup, whether they’re watching a match, exploring the neighborhood, or enjoying our beautiful waterfront views.” Known for its walkable streets, waterfront parks, outdoor dining, and village-like atmosphere, Coconut Grove offers visitors an appealing alternative to the busier areas surrounding World Cup venues.
