Each morning, Ms. Thompson-Salters would greet all 565 kids with a cheerful “good morning” and a friendly hello, creating a positive and nurturing environment within the school premises. “Nobody knew when a child walked through those doors whether they had a meal the night before or were hurting but I knew immediately when they needed a hug or an encouraging word to get them through the day,” she explained. Her kind words and genuine interest in the students’ well-being made her a beloved figure among the school community.
After almost four decades of service, Carla Thompson-Salters has decided to embark on the next chapter of her life, marking her retirement from Laura C. Saunders Elementary. While bidding farewell to her role, she does so with excitement and anticipation for the adventures that lie ahead.
